Tax Credits
Missouri Energy Efficiency Tax Deduction
Senate Bill 1181 was signed by Governor Matt Blunt in an effort to encourage Missouri families to “Go Green”. The legislation allows 100 percent of the cost of a home energy audit, conducted by a certified energy auditor, and the cost of implementing any of the recommendations made in any such audit, to be deducted from a taxpayer’s federal adjusted gross income. The deduction is limited to $1,000 per taxpayer per year and up to $2,000 cumulative lifetime total per taxpayer. The deduction expires December 31, 2013.
The Department of Energy reports that 80% of older homes in the United States are under insulated. Since insulation plays such a significant role in energy audits, typically additional insulation is recommended.
Federal Tax Credit
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, 2009 was passed and offers a tax credit for energy efficiency improvements. For more information, see attached link. We are also pleased to provide a manufacturer’s certification required for a homeowner to receive this tax credit.
