Off-Gassing / Corrosion
As people become more concerned about indoor air quality more people are aware of “Off-Gassing” issues.
FTI’s insulation does not contain any Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) such as asbestos, formaldehyde, urea or ammonia which might be released during installation or later. There are no harmful effects during its installation or after its installation to habitants.
Corrosion normally occurs when ammonia is present with water at a specific pH. This is sometimes a concern when ammonium sulphate or ammonium phosphate is used as a fire retardant. Because FTI’s insulation is made with a 100% borate formula there is no chance of this happening.
In addition, FTI’s cellulose insulation is independently tested to ensure conformance with all required regulations. The main test is ASTM Standard C-739. One parameter of this test measures corrosion when the product is in contact with metal. FTI’s cellulose insulation passes the test. This means that the cellulose insulation does not cause corrosion on metals or other materials when in contact with them.
